I’m a Dementia Friend

I am always in two minds about this sort of thing. Which is a bit tricky for someone who contributed to the Time to Change bid, was on the delivery team, and at the launch of Get Moving.

So I admit a bit two faced of me.

Professionally I don’t like this sort of thing. It feels like a service that should be funded by central and local government.

But…

Pragmatic me, knows that isn’t going to happen in this lifetime.

Besides I love doing this sort of stuff and am apt to get carried away.

So yes two minds, two faced, confused.

However Dementia Friends is a really good initiative which I am honoured to be part of.

The aim is to make people and communities more dementia friendly and aware, for the benefit of people with dementia living with and in them.

Being a friend involves having some brief training and pledging to take action.

As you can guess my action is to spread the word.

I’m also going to the next thing, which is become a dementia champion. Then I can train dementia friends.

My aim is to make the village I live in, Cannington, a Dementia Friendly community.
